Homemade Skin Care Recipes: Peaches

Since we're winding down the series on homemade skin care recipes from your kitchen, I wanted be sure to touch on the benefits of peaches.  Peaches are high in Vitamins A and C, & a natural source of alpha-hydroxy acids. These nutrients tighten the skin, unclog pores, reduce wrinkles and lighten age spots. All in all, they give you that moist, dewy peachy look, and serve as a great skin care remedy.

Here are a few ideas for how to use them:

* For delicate/sensitive skin, peel and mash a ripe peach half, mix it with two tablespoons of plain yogurt (that’s where the cream comes in) and apply. Rinse after about 20 minutes. This is especially good for dry skin.

* If you’re looking to tighten sagging skin & close those pores, blend the pulp of a ripe peach with an egg white until fully mixed. Apply, leave on for ½ hour and rinse.

* You can also add honey & oatmeal to a mashed peach – about three teaspoons of honey and enough oatmeal to turn it into a paste. Rinse off after about 15 minutes.

Peach Moisturizer
This works on hands and fingernails as well as on your face or body.

* 2 tablespoons almond oil
* 1/2 teaspoon honey
* 2 teaspoons peach juice
* Mix ingredients well and apply all over.

All of these are a great use for peaches that you bought, but maybe didn't get to eat quickly enough.  Keep in mind that buying these at your local farmer's market is a great option; they're fresh, likely organic, and you're supporting your local economy. Enjoy!
